MORE FRESH STEPS WITH GOD

What is the difference between just going through the motions as a Christian and being gripped by the presence of God?
Everything good flows from a right view of God. God is not “the man upstairs;” God is not our buddy. God is transcendent glory and He dwells in unapproachable light. No one can see God and live; Hebrews 12:29 says our God is a consuming fire.

Personal revival begins when God is revealed to you through His Word and by His Spirit as He really is. This is when we stop ‘going through the motions as a Christian,’ and begin to delight in God’s presence.

What keeps me from receiving the full power of Christ in my life? And what should I do to change that?

It’s sin (see question #1), but many Christians do not know that. They rightly believe that they have eternal forgiveness of their sin through faith in Christ but they fail to see that sin is still ruling them even as believers, and blocking the blessing of God from their lives. “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.” (Acts 17:30).

Not knowing is no longer an excuse. Genuine, heart-felt, ongoing repentance is the pathway to a greater fullness of God’s power in your life. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19).

Many churches today wants the times of refreshing but don’t want to come on God’s terms.

The busyness of life has a way of keeping me “over-committed and over-extended" physically, mentally and spiritually. How do I find a way to prioritize and really find that “fresh surge of energy” and personal joy of living for Christ?
If having true spiritual vitality that lasted more than a few days was easy, everyone would have it. The fact is, you cannot have a dynamic walk with Christ and meet all the demands of your career, your family, and your own flesh.

Self-denial is an essential ingredient of continuous revival.

In Matthew 16:24-25, Jesus told His disciples, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

No one loses by giving up anything for Christ; that is an illusion. Our non-stop activity and striving for more is what creates the emptiness in our soul that can only be filled by God. The wonderful promise of Christ is that in losing our life for His sake, we truly find it.
